Elementary Music Specialists
Kerrie Bahr, Columbus Elementary
Kerrie Bahr is the Music Teacher of K-6 at Columbus Elementary School. She is a native of Wisconsin and graduated from U of W, Whitewater. She holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education at St. Mary’s University. She has lived in Forest Lake for 33 years, has three grown children, and enjoys travelling, reading and pottery.
Deanna Gorsegner, Linwood Elementary
Mrs. Gorsegner currently enjoys teaching Vocal & Classroom Music at Linwood (K-5), Ranger Academy (K-3), the Linwood 6th-grade Choir, and voice lessons at the Middle School (7-8)
She has been a teacher for Forest Lake Area Schools since 2005, and has taught both Vocal & Classroom Music, and Reading Intervention. As a musician, her main instruments are voice & piano. She enjoys performing & listening to a variety of musical styles. She leads and accompanies her church Praise Team, and also enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. Family activities they enjoy together include: camping, hiking, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, traveling, playing games and family meals.
Anna Hogan, Forest View Elementary
Anna Hogan is the Music Teacher at Forest View Elementary and teaches Kindergarten through 3rd grade music classes. She has taught K-4 elementary music for 19 years. She loves being your child’s music teacher and her focus in music class is to awaken the joy that your child can find in music.
Katie Hagaman, Forest Lake Elementary and Scandia Elementary
Katie Hagaman is the new Elementary Music Specialist for Forest Lake Elementary and Scandia Elementary. She is originally an Illinois native, but she moved to Minnesota after attending St. Olaf College where she majored in Vocal Music Education. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys baking cookies and listening to podcasts. She is eager to start working in the Forest Lake School District and can’t wait to get to know all of your kids!
Lisa Sauer, Lino Lakes Elementary
Lisa Sauer has been an Elementary Music Specialist for Forest Lake Area Schools since September 1990. Currently, she is teaching at Lino Lakes Elementary STEM School where she works with Kindergarten through Fifth grade as well as directing the Sixth grade choir. She received her Masters in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas specializing in the elemental style of teaching music called Orff Schulwerk.
Dana Spears, Wyoming Elementary
Dana Spears teaches general music and choir at Wyoming Elementary. Previously, she taught K-5 general music and choir in Owatonna, MN, and band and choir in Rochester, MN. She graduated from Concordia College Moorhead with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, completed her Kodály certificate at the University of St. Thomas, and earned a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Anderson University.
Dana lives in Lino Lakes with her husband, Grant, and their two cats, Tucker and Apollo. In her free time, she enjoys going to Twins games and Gopher gymnastics meets and spending time with family and friends.
Sixth Grade Band
The Forest Lake Elementary School’s bands are led by music teachers Jake Matheson and Katie Hartman.

Jake Matheson, Scandia Elementary, Wyoming Elementary and Ranger Academy
Jake Matheson teaches band in the Forest Lake Area Schools. He teaches 7th and 8th grade bands and lessons at Forest Lake Area Middle School and elementary bands at Scandia Elementary, Wyoming Elementary and Ranger Academy. Mr. Matheson directs the Forest Lake Ranger Marching Band. Mr. Matheson holds a Bachelor of Music in K-12 Instrumental Music Education from the University of South Dakota and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. Mr. Matheson is a third-generation graduate of Forest Lake Area High School. Mr. Matheson founded and directs the Forest Lake Area Community Band and teaches many band lessons after school through Forest Lake Area Community Education. Mr. Matheson and his wife Lauren (who is also a music teacher) live in Chisago with their son Tyler and Yorkie puppy named Ellie.
Katie Hartman, Forest Lake Elementary, Lino Lakes Elementary, Linwood Elementary
Katie Hartman teaches instrumental music at Forest Lake Area Schools. This year Ms. Hartman will be at Forest Lake Elementary, Linwood Elementary, and Lino Lakes Elementary schools. Prior to Forest Lake, Ms. Hartman taught 6-12 band classes in Eau Claire, WI.
Katie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. During her time at Eau Claire, she participated in the Blugold Marching Band for 4 years, played in the wind ensemble and various chamber ensembles.
When Ms. Hartman is not at school, she enjoys practicing flute, working out, traveling, and spending time with her cat, Tinkerbell
Sixth Grade Orchestra
Poji Schreiber
Poji Schreiber has been the Elementary and Junior High Orchestra Director and Pops Orchestra Director in the Forest Lake Area School District for 19 years. Her passion is to teach music and share her love of music with others. She believes in empowering each and every student and that everyone can achieve their goals. Poji studied with numerous violin teachers, like Aaron Janse (Minnesota Orchestra), Elsa Nilsson (St. Paul Chamber Orchestra) and Andrea Een (Minnesota Opera). She has a Bachelor of Music in Education from St. Olaf College and a Master’s in Education from St. Catherine University. She is a MYS alum and was a first violinist in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. She also has three children and loves going on fun adventures with her family. For fun, she loves to curl up with a good mystery book.
Natasha Montzka
Natasha Montzka teaches orchestra at the Middle School & at several elementary schools within the Forest Lake Area district. She has received degrees from both the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and Texas Tech University. Natasha also serves as the concertmaster of the Minnetonka Chamber Orchestra and teaches Adult String Classes through Community Education.
